FUN!
When I'm not working on client briefs, I'm working on improving my craft and experimenting with new ideas and techniques. Here's a collection of things I've made just for fun.
Hip-hop Robot
The origin of this is a bit random. I was scrolling on Instagram when I got an ad from Amazon for a tin lunchbox in the style of an old wind-up robot toy. I suddenly had the urge to design and animate my own little robot. I started in Illustrator and designed a simple robot inspired by real life toys I found on Google. After creating a simple animation, I continued to add lighting and texture and then finally I made a more dynamic edit with some extra movement to work with the music that plays over it on Instagram. Here's the final video.

Star Command title sequence
We all know Woody had his own show in the 1950s, but what if Buzz and the gang had their own sci-fi show? Well maybe it would look something like this?

Lost in Space title sequence
What started as just an experiment in Ai image generation led to me creating a retro-futuristic-inspired title sequence for a reimagined version of the TV show Lost in Space. Using a mixture of Ai generated images and old archive footage from the 60s, I put this little edit together.

Microwaves
I love mid-century style and aesthetics and spend a lot of my time experimenting with techniques to recreate that style in a way that looks and feels authentic. I was inspired to make this video after I bought a new microwave and found the description in the instruction manual really interesting (I'm a weird guy). I loved the word magnetron and immediately had a vision. The rest of the video just formed around that initial idea.

Saul Bass
Like many motion designers, Saul Bass is a huge inspiration for me. I was inspired by this quote of his and decided to replicate the style of his title sequence to the film Psycho.
